Description of the Cause : Due to deviations within the maintenance process at the supplier, soldering joints on the printed circuit board may have been exposed to too high mechanical pressure by a pusher tool, which could damage soldering joints. Audi has received 47 warranty claims in the U.S. market in which the rear view camera failed and had to be replaced. Audi has not received any reports of a crash or injury due to this topic. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-823 Page 6 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Affected vehicles will receive a new rearview camera at no cost to the customer. Volkswagen and Audi will not offer a reimbursement plan under this recall, as all affected vehicles are still under warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The part numbers for the remedy and the recalled components are the same. The remedy rear view cameras have been produced outside of the suspect manufacturing period at the supplier. [November 30, 2022- February 9, 2022] Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : On Febuary 9, 2022 the production at supplier was already corrected due to regulary scheduled maintenance. At that point in time supplier was not aware of the issue. Vehicles produced after October 17, 2022 have been produced with rear view cameras according to manufacturing specification.
