Noncompliance :
Affected vehicles were equipped with headlight control module software
intended for the EU market that may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) 108. The software exhibits ECE-compliant lighting
behavior intended for other markets that affects the parking lamp performance
when the headlights are turned on and turn signals are activated. There is no
loss of low beam, high beam, turn signal, or hazard functionality.

Description of the Safety Risk : Vehicles with unintended parking lamp performance during turn signal
operation may have reduced conspicuity to other vehicles, which may
increase the risk of crash.
Description of the Cause : The supplier erroneously adopted the ECE-compliant lighting behavior in the
data set.

Chronology :
March 20, 2024: A deviation in the behavior of the optically combined LED parking/turn signal lamp was
discovered during an internal test at Audi.
March – May 15, 2024: Audi, along with its supplier, began evaluating the data set. It was discovered that the
erroneously adopted the ECE-compliant lighting behavior in the data set for the headlight modules installed on

certain vehicles instead of the correct US market data set. In light of the discovery of this inadvertent mis-build,
Audi began evaluating whether it presented an FMVSS compliance issue.
May 15, 2024: Following the compliance evaluation of the vehicles manufactured with the ECE data set, the
Audi Product Safety Committee decided a noncompliance recall to correct the vehicles in the field.
Audi is not aware of any warranty claims, injuries, crashes or fires due to this issue.

Description of Remedy Program : The affected control unit will be updated with a new data set.
Audi will not offer a reimbursement plan under this recall.
How Remedy Component Differs
from Recalled Component :
With the corrected data set that is intended for the US market, the
behavior of the optically combined LED parking/turn signal lamp function
complies with FMVSS 108.

Since calendar week 14/2024, the correct US market data set has been in
used in production.
