June 20, 2024 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 24V465000
Front Brake Hoses Can Tear and Leak Fluid
A failed brake circuit can cause longer brake pedal travel and reduced braking performance, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.
NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V465
Manufacturer Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
Components SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
Potential Number of Units Affected 9,653
Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi
) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Audi
RS E-Tron GT and Audi
E-Tron GT vehicles. The front axle brake hoses can develop tears, causing a leak and a brake circuit failure.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the front axle brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on August 16, 2024. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi
’s number for this recall is 47UP.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Issue:
It is possible that, over time, tears can develop in the front axle brake hoses. If this happens, a brake fluid leak and eventually brake circuit failure could occur. A failed brake circuit can cause longer brake pedal travel, reduced vehicle braking capability, and longer stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash.
Precautions:
If the recall condition is present in the vehicle, brake pedal travel may be extended, and a warning message will appear in the vehicle display due to the reduced quantity of brake fluid. Customers experiencing this condition are advised to contact their authorized Audi dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed.
Chronology :
September 11, 2023: Audi was informed by Porsche about a potential irregularity with the front axle brake hoses. Given that the Audi
e-tron GT uses the same components, investigations were initiated.
October 05, 2023: The Product Safety Committee at Audi began its process. Simulations of the brake hose routing were carried out in coordination with Porsche.
Calendar Week 21, 2024: The implementation of measures began, involving the deployment of optimized brake hoses across the affected vehicles.
June 12, 2024: Audi and Porsche jointly decided on a recall. This decision underscores their commitment to customer safety.
As of June 19, 2024 Audi is aware of two warranty claims dated 05/24/2024, but is not aware of any customer complaint, injuries or crashes due to this issue.
