An immediate investigation was started. September – October 2022: A Stop-Order was issued for all vehicles still in the port and the factory. The information for the Safety Certification label was corrected in the relevant IT system and vehicles still in the port and in the factory received a corrected label. October 2022 – November 2022: The topic was submitted to the Audi Product Safety Committee and the affected scope of vehicles in the field was further investigated and verified. November 22, 2022: NHTSA ran an FMVSS 214 compliance test and the testing vendor indicated that there were missing weight values on the Safety Certification label. November 30, 2022: The Audi Product Safety Committee decides a voluntary recall in order to install a label on the safety certification label on the B-pillar containing the weight specifications. Audi is not aware of any warranty claims, customer complaints or other field reports due to this issue. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Audi will conduct a recall to remedy this issue. At no cost to customers, Audi dealers will install an overlay (label) containing the correct vehicle weight specifications on the existing safety certification label. Audi will not offer a reimbursement plan under this recall. TIP On the date of repair, print this screen and keep a copy with the repair order.  Confirm the Campaign/Action is open . If the status is closed, no further work is required.  Note the Applicable Criteria ID for use in determining the correct work to be done and corresponding parts associated. CRITICAL REPAIR STEP STOP! If multiple software update Campaign/Actions are open, they must be performed in order of the Start date . The oldest should be performed first.  All Safety Recalls must be completed prior to completing this campaign.  Proceed to Section B. February 2023 50ZZ Page 7 of 8 Section B – Repair Procedure  Open the driver front door.  Locate the “Safety Certification” label on the lower part of the B-pillar.  Clean the surface of the existing label.  Peel the replacement label overlay off the backing paper.  Apply the label overlay so only the affected data is covered. Do not cover any additional data on the existing label. CAUTION Ensure the correct label overlay is affixed to the correct vehicle.  Ensure minimal air bubbles are created when installing the new label overlay. NOTE  The surface of the existing label must be clean, dry, and free from oil residue prior to applying the replacement label overlay.  Handle the replacement label overlay carefully. Do not touch the adhesive backing.
