Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen
) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Audi
A7 vehicles.
The affected vehicles have head curtain air bags that may not deploy properly in the event of a crash.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, “Ejection Mitigation.”
Remedy
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected head curtain air bags, free of charge.
The recall is expected to begin June 29, 2017.

RECALL DESCRIPTION | Due to a production issue at the supplier, a head curtain airbag may not unfold properly during deployment. This may result in an increased risk of injury to an unbelted passenger in a crash where the head curtain airbag deploys. |
CORRECTIVE ACTION | Repair information will be provided to dealers when parts and repair instructions become available to support this recall. |
IMPORTANT REMINDER ON VEHICLES AFFECTED BY SAFETY & COMPLIANCE RECALLS
New Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. By law, dealers must correct, prior to delivery for sale or lease, any vehicle that fails to comply with an applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or that contains a defect relating to motor vehicle safety.
Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: Dealers should not deliver any pre-owned vehicles in their inventory which are involved in a safety or compliance recall until the defect has been remedied.
