WARNING
Using unsuitable or damaged sockets and connecting cables and disregarding accepted safety practices may cause short circuits, accidents, and serious or fatal personal injury.
- Never use damaged sockets and connecting cables. Check connectors and cables for damage before use.
- Never allow connectors to come into contact with moisture, water and other fluids.
- The remote start feature can only be retrofitted on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
- The installation of the original retrofitting remote start feature must be carried out by a competent workshop. Special tools and the accompanying literature specific to the car are required for proper installation and function. Incorrect installation may damage the vehicle.
- Secure the wires so that they cannot come into contact with any rotating or other moving parts and so that they cannot chafe against any sharp metal or plastic edges.
- All rights to make technical changes without notice are reserved.
Supplied in the kit:
- 1x Remote Start Relay
- 1x Activation Document
Special tools, test and measuring equipment, and other components required:
- Torx driver bits (set)
- Vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system VAS Diagnostic with ODIS Service Software Accessory*:
- Vehicle key with remote start feature (4 buttons pluspanic button). For the order use the customer‘s

Preparation
Carry out all work according to current workshop literature:
- Remove cover footwell → ELSA, RG 68.
Installation of the Remote Start Relay (Mounted in the relay box holder)
- Locate the Relay labeled -548- remove it (fi g.1, arrow).
- Install the new Relay labeled -526- (comes in the Box), (fi g.1).
- Locate Fuse F49 in the fuse Box (fi g.2). – If is a fuse in place remove it. Coding the remote start feature
Step one:
Prepare ECU, only for vehicle with V6 and 1.4 TSI engine
- Connect a vehicle diagnostics, measurement and Information system -VAS- to the vehicle.
- Electrical system, repair group 97; wiring, vehicle diagnostics, measurement and information systems; connecting a vehicle diagnostics, measurement and information system.
- After querying the control units, select the “Special Functions” and then sequentially the following menu options:
- Software version management
- Adapting Software
- Update via AM code
- Enter the 4 character action code for V6 engine “3FBD“. For 1.4TSI engine “4196”
- The online connection is created after code entry and the software update carried out.
- Quit the “Guided troubleshooting” by using “ Go to”. All error memory entries are deleted.
Step two:
After querying the control units, select the “Special Functions” and then sequentially the following menu options:
- Software version management
- Adapting Software
- Perform conversion / retrofit solution with license protection
- codes shows in the “Activation Document’ (comes in the Box)
Concluding work and checking the remote start feature
- Program all of the new vehicle keys → Vehicle electronics; Electrical system; repair group 96; lights, lamps, switches – internal; anti-theft protection; immobilizer; ignition key; ignition key adaptation.
- Separate the connection to the vehicle diagnostics, measurement and information system –VAS–. The prerequisite conditions for all of the following work steps described in the “Remote start feature”
- Warnings in the vehicle manual must be complied with!
Perform a function and safety check on the “Remote start functions”
- Check that the engine starts via start button with the vehicle key in the car.
- Lock the vehicle from the outside by pressing the “lock” button on the vehicle key.
- Start the engine with the buttons on the vehicle key as follows: Press the “lock “button once and then press the “RES” button twice within 3 seconds.
- Check whether the engine can be switched off by pressing the “RES” button on the vehicle key.
- Start the engine with the buttons on the vehicle key again: Press the “lock” button once and then press the “RES” button twice within 3 seconds.
- Check whether the engine can be switched off by pressing the “RES” button on the vehicle key.
- Replace all disassembled components in reverse order.
When handing over the vehicle, please refer the customer to the “Remote start feature” chapter in the vehicle manual and provide them with these installation instructions.

ATTENTION
L’utilisation de douilles et de câbles inadaptés ou endommagés, ainsi que le non-respect des mesures de sécurité courantes, peuvent provoquer des courts-circuits, et des accidents, ainsi que des blessures graves et même mortelles.
- Ne jamais utiliser de douilles ou de câbles endommagés. Avant d’utiliser des connecteurs ou des câbles, contrôler s’ils ne sont pas endommagés.
- Ne jamais mettre les connecteurs en contact avec de l’humidité, de l’eau ou d’autres liquides.
- La fonction de démarrage à distance ne peut être installée ultérieurement que sur les véhicules avec une boîte de vitesses automatique.
- Le montage de la fonction de démarrage à distance d’origine en rétrofit doit se faire dans un atelier spécialisé et qualifié. Pour le montage adapté et le fonctionnement conforme, il faut des outils spéciaux et la documentation du véhicule concerné. Un montage non conforme peut éventuellement endommager le véhicule.
- Fixer les câbles de manière à ce qu’ils ne soient pas en contact avec des éléments mobiles, et qu’ils ne puissent pas frotter contre des éléments métalliques ou en plastique, avec des arêtes coupantes.
- Sous réserve des droits de réalisation de modifications techniques sans préavis.
Fournis dans le kit:
- 1x relais de démarrage à distance
- 1x document d’activation
Outils spéciaux, instruments de test et de mesure et autre composants requis :
- Embouts Torx (jeu)
- Système de diagnostic, de mesure et d’informations sur le véhicule (VAS Diagnostic) avec le logiciel ODIS Service
Accessoires*:
- Clé de voiture avec fonction de démarrage à distance (4 boutons plus bouton d’urgence). Pour la commande, utiliser le VIN du client.
* Non compris dans le kit, à commander séparément à l’aide du catalogue des pièces détachées de la voiture.
Préparation
Effectuer tous les travaux dans le respect de la documentation en vigueur dans les ateliers:
- Retirer le cache au niveau des pieds → ELSA, RG 68.
Installation du relais de démarrage à distance (monté dans le support du boîtier des relais)
- Repérer le relais numéroté -548- et le retirer (fi g. 1, fl èche).
- Installer le nouveau relais numéroté -526- (fourni dans la boîte), (fi g. 1). – Repérer le fusible F49 dans le boîtier des fusibles (fi g. 2). – Si un fusible est présent, le retirer.
Codage de la fonction de démarrage à distance Étape 1:
Préparer l’unité de contrôle externe (ECU), uniquement pour les véhicules avec un moteur V6 ou 1,4 TSI.
- Connecter un système de diagnostic, de mesure et d’informations sur le véhicule (VAS) à la voiture.
- Système électrique, groupe de réparation 97 ; câblage, systèmes de diagnostic, de mesure et d’informations sur le véhicule ; connexion d’un système de diagnostic, de mesure et d’informations sur le véhicule.
- Après avoir effectué les demandes aux unités de contrôle, sélectionner « Fonctions spéciales », puis les options consécutives suivantes :
- Gestion de la version de logiciel
- Adaptation du logiciel
- Mise à jour via un code AM
- Entrer le code à 4 caractères : « 3FBD » pour le moteur V6 et « 4196 » pour le moteur 1,4 TSI.
- Une fois le code entré, la connexion en ligne est établie et la mise à jour du logiciel est effectuée.
- Acquitter le menu « Dépannage guidé » à l’aide de « Aller à ». Toutes les entrées de la mémoire des erreurs sont effacées.
Étape 2:
Après avoir effectué les demandes aux unités de contrôle, sélectionner « Fonctions spéciales », puis les options consécutives suivantes:
- Gestion de la version de logiciel
- Adaptation du logiciel
- Effectuer la solution de conversion/de rééquipement avec protection par licence
- Les codes sont indiqués dans le
« Document d’activation » (fourni dans la boîte)
Fin des travaux et contrôle de la fonction de démarrage à distance
- Programmation de toutes les nouvelles clés de voiture → Systèmes électroniques des véhicules ; système électrique ; groupe de réparation 96 ; éclairage, lampes, commutateurs – interne ; protection antivol ; immobilisateur ; clé de démarrage ; adaptation de la clé de démarrage.
- Débrancher le système de diagnostic, de mesure et d’informations sur le véhicule (VAS). Les conditions prérequises pour toutes les étapes suivantes sont décrites sous « Fonction de démarrage à distance »
- Il convient de respecter les avertissements figurant dans le manuel du véhicule !
Effectuer un contrôle du fonctionnement et de la sécurité de la « fonction de démarrage à distance ».
- Vérifier que le moteur démarre à l’aide du bouton de démarrage de la clé depuis l’intérieur du véhicule.
- Verrouiller le véhicule depuis l’extérieur en appuyant sur le bouton de verrouillage sur la clé.
- Démarrer le moteur avec les boutons de la clé comme suit : Appuyer sur le bouton de verrouillage « lock » une fois, puis sur le bouton « RES » à deux reprises dans les 3 secondes qui suivent.
- Vérifier que le moteur s’éteint par une pression sur le bouton « RES » de la clé.
- Démarrer le moteur une nouvelle fois avec les boutons de la clé : Appuyer sur le bouton « lock » une fois, puis sur le bouton « RES » à deux reprises dans les 3 secondes qui suivent.
- Vérifier que le moteur s’éteint par une pression sur le bouton « RES » de la clé.
– Réinstaller les composants démontés dans l’ordre inverse du démontage.
Lors de la remise du véhicule, indiquer au client le chapitre « Fonction de démarrage à distance » dans le manuel du véhicule et lui fournir les présentes instructions d’installation.
