NOTE There is no need to check the torque specification prior to tightening the bolt. Rear bumper cover does not require removal. TIP If a torque wrench with an angle function is not available, mark the bolt, then mark the body 90° from the mark on the bolt and turn the bolt until the marks line up. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : The bolts may begin to loosen which will lead to a rattling noise. If the problem persists, the loose bolt may fall out, or the remaining bolts may be over-stressed which could lead to separation of the trailer hitch during towing. This may increase the risk for a crash for the following traffic. Description of the Cause : Incorrect tightening procedure after a change of the supplier of the trailer hitch bolts. For a potential incorrect not OK tightened bolt, the published rework procedure was not followed.
