Repair Overview
Check rear window glass, and replace if necessary.
Chronology :
May 27, 2022: On 2 newly produced Audi Q3 vehicles, a broken rear window was discovered at the Audi
factory in Hungary. Investigation into cause and gathering of additional information commenced.
May – mid-July 2022: Detailed analysis of potential influencing factors together with supplier. An expert team was created, since additional broken rear windows were found in Q3 production. Finally it was found that deviations in the coolant process occurred during production of the rear window at the supplier. Identification and containment of affected Audi production was initiated and the topic was reported to the Audi
Product Safety Committee. Starting on June 13 Audi
has verified to have received only rear windows that were produced according to specification.
mid-July – mid-September 2022: Verification of potentially affected population, investigation whether any affected parts also may have been used for a repair in the field, detailed risk assessment and verification of effectiveness of countermeasure in production. Although there are no known cases from the field worldwide, based on the occurrences in production and the results of the analysis, it was confirmed that the rear windows from the affected production lot may crack or break.
September 12, 2022: The full analysis results were presented to the Audi Product Safety Committee and a worldwide safety recall was decided.
As of September 19, 2022 Audi is not aware of any related field cases in the U.S. market.
