In the event of a vehicle safety recall, an incorrect production date may prevent owners from determining if the recall affects them, increasing their risk of injury or a crash.
Summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen
) is recalling certain 2015 Audi
A3 1.8T FWD S tronic and 2.0T Quattro S tronic vehicles.
The safety certification label has an incorrect vehicle production date.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”
Remedy
Audi will notify owners, and dealers will install an overlay label containing the correct vehicle production date, free of charge.
The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

RECALL DESCRIPTION | The safety certification label has an incorrect vehicle production date (month/year) printed on it. This makes the label non-compliant with regulatory requirements. |
CORRECTIVE ACTION | Repair information will be provided to dealers when parts and repair instructions become available to support this recall.
Dealers will install an overlay label containing the correct vehicle production date. This will be performed at no charge to customers. |
IMPORTANT REMINDER ON VEHICLES AFFECTED BY SAFETY & COMPLIANCE RECALLS
New Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. By law, dealers must correct, prior to delivery for sale or lease, any vehicle that fails to comply with an applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or that contains a defect relating to motor vehicle safety.
Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory: Dealers should not deliver any pre-owned vehicles in their inventory which are involved in a safety or compliance recall until the defect has been remedied.
