Inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Code Visibility
On or about August 30, 2023 the campaign code was applied to affected vehicles.
Owner Notification
Owner notification will take place in September 2023. Owner letter examples are included in this bulletin for your reference.

RCRIT-23V601-4106
Chronology :
February 13, 2019: The Audi Product Safety Committee receives a report about the issue and the potential noncompliance.
Unsold vehicles will be checked and will receive a new brake fluid cap if necessary.
March 6, 2019: Topic presented to Audi Product Safety Committee. The committee decides to conduct a service campaign with customer notification.
March 20, 2019: After discussions with the responsible VWGoA colleagues from the United States market, the Audi Product Safety committee decides to file a petition for inconsequential noncompliance.
April 22, 2021: In vehicle production one vehicle is found that was built for the North-American market but was equipped with the brake fluid cap used for all other markets. Immediate investigation regarding root cause and affected vehicle scope commenced.
May 18, 2021: The responsible department determines that it cannot be ruled out that additional vehicles produced for North America have received a brake fluid cap with piktograms instead of verbal instructions.
Vehicles still in the factory and in the ports were checked and approximately 0.8% did not have the US specific brake fluid cap.
May – July 2021: Review of production data and determination of potentially affected vehicles.
July 19, 2021: The Audi Product Safety Committee determines that a non-compliance exists in the affected vehicles. Audi believes that there is no risk to vehicle motor safety and will file a petition for inconsequentiality (49 CFR part 556).
August 18, 2023: NHTSA informs VWGoA that they have denied the two petitions for inconsequential noncompliance.
Unrepaired vehicles that were previously reported under recall codes 47O8 and 47R2 are being moved into the following new code: 47T9
